St. Louis County, MO (KSDK) - An early morning robbery at a St. Louis-area car dealership ends with the arrest of two men and the recovery of four stolen cars. And authorities say technology was a key reason that they found the vehicles.
The brand new Camaros were stolen right off the lot from the Bommarito dealership and were recovered in the Pagedale and Wellston areas. Police are still investigating, but say someone forced their way into the dealership.
All the stolen Chevy Camaros were recovered with the help of the OnStar system in the vehicles that shut down the vehicles.
One susspect who was taken into custody had several sets of keys in his pocket to the Camaros.
Police were called around 4:00 a.m. Monday after seeing several new Camaros speeding down I-55 northbound toward Union Blvd.
Employees of the dealership, off of Lindbergh, are working to determine if three or four cars were stolen off the lot.
Witness say one of the cars was yellow, the other silver. Police say all of the vehicles have temporary license plates.
Authorities from the Bommarito dealership declined to comment.
