St. Louis (KSDK) - Police have arrested two men in connection with several robberies in the St. Louis area.
The first robbery occurred on July 6 at J.D.'s Bar. Both suspects entered the bar around 11 p.m. and one displayed a weapon. They announced a robbery and demanded money from the cash register. Cash and a cell phone were also taken from several patrons.
Around 10 p.m. on July 15 two victims were robbed as they were getting out of a vehicle in the rear of a residence on S. Compton. The two suspects approached the victims and took two cell phones, money, lottery tickets, liquor, and a wallet. They tried to take the car, but it had a manual transmission and the suspects were unable to drive it. They both fled on foot, and left one of the phones and the lottery tickets behind in the car.
Later that evening one suspect pointed a gun at a victim who was standing in the 4900 block of Michigan. The victim was reaching for his own weapon when the suspect fired at him. The victim was able to fire one shot at the suspect as he ran from the scene.
The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old George Hayes and 18-year-old Sebastian Hernandez, both of St. Louis. Hayes has been charged with four counts of first degree robbery, four counts of armed criminal action, and is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
Hernandez has been charged with eight counts of armed criminal action, seven counts of first degree robbery, one count of first degree assault, and is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
