(Pine Lawn, Mo.) KSDK -- An officer was struck by a car early Saturday morning.

It happened at a DWI stop about 4 a.m. on westbound I-70 at Jennings Station Road.

Chief Rickey Collins says the officer, 27-year-old Brandon Lange, sustained injuries to his leg and hip and was treated at a hospital and released.

Collins says Officer Lange had pulled a motorist over for speeding when he heard a loud crash behind him.  Collins says the suspect, Adam Horn, 24, of Arnold, had crashed into Officer Lange's cruiser.  Lange jumped onto the vehicle he was ticketing in an attempt to escape but was still struck.

Horn was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer. His bond was set at $25,000 dollars, cash-only.

Chief Collins says more charges, including driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of an accident could be filed Monday.

Collins showed the media photos of evidence he says were taken at the scene.  They include a photo of a bottle of vodka he says was inside Horn's vehicle.

Collins says Horn tried to leave the scene, only to discover his vehicle was damaged and inoperable.  That's when police took him into custody.
