Cahokia, Ill. (KSDK) - This weekend, you can get a bird's eye view of the region in the world's largest airship.
The Farmers Airship is one of only two Zeppelins flying in the world today. At 246 feet in length, it's the largest passenger airship in the world. It's also 15 feet longer than a Boeing 747. Even though they look similar, a Zeppelin is not a blimp. It features an internal structural framework and performs maneuvers similar to a helicopter.
Public "flight-seeing" tours are being offered Aug. 19-21 at St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia. The 45-minute flights are $345 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 650-969-8100 ext. 111 or by vising airshipventures.com.
