Wentzville, MO (KSDK) - A 70-year-old woman was killed in a car accident while her husband watched from the vehicle behind her, Wentzville police said Friday.
According to police, the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 61 at Peine Road.
The victim, Shirley Kutter, was traveling northbound and was attempting to cross the southbound lanes in order to turn onto Peine Road. She stopped in the median to yield to traffic because a fire truck and ambulance were approaching from behind.
Kutter pulled out from the median into the southbound lanes and was struck by an oncoming dump truck. She died at the scene. Police believe Kutter did not notice the dump truck when she pulled forward from the median.
Kutter's husband had been with her prior to the accident, but they had taken separate cars. His car was behind hers when the accident occurred.
