High Ridge, Missouri (KSDK)-- Jefferson County deputies say one person was killed and a second injured after the car they were in drove off Little Brennan Road and overturned overnight near High Ridge.
Authorities tell NewsChannel 5 the crash unfolded around 12:30 a.m. Friday when a northbound car traveling at a high rate of speed was approaching the intersection of Meadow Road. A car already in the three-way intersection saw the approaching car and stopped to avoid an accident.
The oncoming car drove into the other lane to avoid the stopped vehicle, drove off the east side of Little Brennan Road and overturned into the ditch.
The 22-year-old passenger in the car was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, also a 22-year-old man, was injured and transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported. The crash investigation is ongoing and charges are possible against the driver whose passenger was killed.
