Jackson, MO (KSDK) - He confessed to a relative, a new twist in the case of a missing Farmington mother.

It was in federal court today that Assistant US Attorney Larry Ferrell said that Clay Waller admitted to his own father that he killed his wife, Jacque, and dumped her body in a hole.

But, that doesn't necessarily mean there will be charges anytime soon.

"It wasn't any big shock to us. We've known about this for two and a half months," said Stan Rawson, Jacque's father.

Jacque Waller's parents, Stan and Ruby Rawson said police told them right away after Clay allegedly confessed to his father, and Clay's father even told them directly.

"He's worried about Clay. He wants Clay to get mental help. He says the boy's crazy. That's what he told me," said Stan.

Waller is in jail on federal charges of making a death threat to his sister in law, Cheryl. He's also entered a not guilty plea on separate charges of stealing and harassment.

He is the last person to have seen his wife on June 1st. His lawyer said authorities are just using those charges to put pressure on his client.

"In some ways it makes me mad because it shows that they're detaining him for a case that hasn't been brought yet," said Attorney Scott Reynolds.

Chief James Humphreys said he's still in the process of building that case.

"We haven't found Jacque. We haven't found our victim. We're going to focus on that before we go forward with prosecutors for charges," said Chief Humphreys.

In Waller's alleged confession to his father, he said she was dumped in a hole. Information authorities have been using to search for her.

"The comment is helpful because it makes us think that she's on land, not water," said Lt. David James.

There was also new information released today about blood spatter found in the home where Clay Waller was staying.

It's more than just blood splatters. We're talking about serious blood. It had DNA done on it and it is Jacque's blood.

Clues the Rawsons hope will close the case, and lead them to Jacque.

"We'll get through this," said Stan.

For now, Clay remains behind bars. He's due back in court on Monday.
