St. Louis (KSDK) - A new engineering building was dedicated Friday on the campus of Washington University.

Preston M. Green Hall, a new engineering building, was dedicated at a ceremony with keynote speaker Charles M. Vest, PhD, president of the National Academy of Engineering and president emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The new building is the third in a new engineering complex, which is home to the Preston M. Green Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering, the second oldest electrical engineering department in the country.

Green Hall includes three classrooms and 17 laboratories that already have research underway. It was designed to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications for a Gold rating in achieving environmental sustainability.
