Madison County, Ill (KSDK) -- Illinois State Police seized 743 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $3.4 million during two traffic stops.
Illinois State Police said troopers stopped a silver Ford pick-up on August 29 on I-70 near Troy, Illinois for improper lane usage and improper display of license plate. An ISP K-9 searched the vehicle and found 633 pounds of pot inside 12 duffle bags.
Police said Tomlin Coleman, 41, of Lehigh Acres, Florida was arrested for allegedly trafficking cannabis.
A few weeks later, troopers found 110 pounds of pot in a SUV stopped near Marine, Illinois for having an obstructed windshield.
Police said Keeta Buchanan, 41, and James Quinn, 66, were arrested for allegedly trafficking cannabis. Both suspects are from Middleton, Ohio.
Coleman was released after posting $25,000 bond. Buchanan and Quinn are still being held at the Madison County Jail. Buchanan is being held on $75,000 bond and Quinn is being held on $100,000 bond.
