St. Louis (KSDK) - David Freese's parents say this has all been a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but they've been having fun watching their hometown boy wow the hometown crowd.
Ask the fans, Cardinal David Freese has been fierce in the post-season.
"Just hitting the ball right field, driving in runs," said fan Randy Strickland.
"He has 11 RBI's for the post season. This is his first post season. It's amazing. It's been great," said fan Jessica Cervenka.
The RBI's, the pivotal home-runs, the consistency throughout the playoffs, the St. Louis raised Freese has been bringing his A-game, and doing it in front of friends and family.
And though this is exciting, his parents say it's also stressful watching when so much is on the line.
"Inside I'm really nervous. But outside I'm calm cool and collected. Pretty much like David, I think. He's very excited but he knows that you've got to keep focused on the game," said his father, Guy Freese.
"It's his job. We just hope he gets one hit a game at least you know!" said his mother, Lynn Freese.
So far, that's been no problem.
And while his parents have been at the games, they say they'll save any celebrations until the very end.
"We just text. Cool. Great win for all you guys. Keep it going," said Lynn.
"Oh yeah, it's amazing. You've got to pinch yourself sometimes if it's real or not. And as I said when it's over I think we'll appreciate it a lot more," said Guy.
