Trinity County, CA (KIEM) - A northern California man and his dog vanished after going on a hunting trip.
The man died in the wilderness, but his faithful companion, Lucky, stayed by his side until rescuers found them nearly two weeks later.
It all started October 3. Joseph Quen took Lucky up to the Yolla Bolly area of the Trinity Mountains. They were supposed to be back that Saturday on October 8, but that return home never happened and that's when the search began.
Rescuers found Lucky a week after he and his master went missing. Lucky was alive and well, but Joseph Quen was dead.
The pain is still strong and fresh for the Quen family. They have suffered a tremendous loss.
But it's Lucky once again that is coming to the rescue. And doing all that he can to provide comfort the ones he loves, because after all, a dog is a man's best friend.
