St. Louis (KSDK) -- Rain is in the forecast for World Series Game 6 Wednesday night.  If the game is rained out and Game 6 is pushed to Thursday and Game 7 is necessary Friday night, the advantage could go to the Texas Rangers, according to USA TODAY baseball writer Bob Nightengale.

St. Louis Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter would go head to head with Rangers' Derek Holland if Game 7 is Friday night.  Carpenter would be on short rest while Holland would be on full rest.  Nightengale called Holland the best pitcher in the postseason.

The past 14 hours have been tough for Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa with the mix-up with the bullpen call.  Nightengale spoke to La Russa and La Russa took the blame for what happened.  There have been some questions by fans about whether La Russa was telling the truth about the miscommunication with the bullpen phone and Nightengale said there is no reason for La Russa to lie about what happened and that he believes the mistake will never happen again.

Nightengale believes the Cardinals will sign slugger Albert Pujols, but he predicts it will take more than $200-million.  He said Pujols' performance in Game 3 when he hit three home runs separated himself from soon to be free agent Prince Fielder.

The Rangers lead the Cardinals 3-2.
