St. Louis County (KSDK) - A man wanted for several home burglaries and auto thefts has been captured.

Charles "Brad" Holzhauer, 41, was taken into custody Friday afternoon by the St. Louis County Police Department.

A citizen who saw Holzhauer's photo in the media called police to report the sighting.

Officers responded to location and took Holzhauer into custody without incident.

Holzhauer was wanted on five counts of first degree burglary. Two of the burglaries took place in Kirkwood, one in Glendale, and two in other parts of St. Louis County. People were in the homes when he was breaking into them.

Detective Steve Urbeck with the Kirkwood Police Department said Holzhauer had "violent tendencies" and is a parole absconder.

Thursday evening a Kirkwood officer saw Holzhauer around 11 p.m. driving a stolen vehicle. He attempted to flee, but crashed the car into a Webster Groves garage and escaped on foot.
