Pedal the Cause donates $1,325,000 for cancer research

St. Louis (KSDK) -- A big day for those on the front lines of cancer research in St. Louis.

Pedal the Cause, an annual bike challenge, donated a check for $1,325,000 on Tuesday to support cancer research at the Siteman Cancer Center, St. Louis Children's Hospital, Washington University, and Barnes-Jewish.

This was the second year for the event which grew from 700 riders in 2010 to more than 1,300 this year. One-hundred percent of money raised stays in St. Louis and funds research to find new life saving treatments and cures for all cancers.

Next year's event is October 6th and 7th, 2012.
