Affton, MO (KSDK) - Shelby Dasher, the mother of Tyler Dasher, was booked on a 24-hour hold at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday at the county jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to a St. Louis County jail supervisor.
Prosecutors have not formally charged Shelby Dasher, 20, with a crime. The prosecutor's office said there is an afternoon press conference planned. NewsChannel 5 will carry it live and it will be streamed on ksdk.com.
Emily Rowley who is a close friend of Shelby's said she believes she is innocent and that Tyler was her world.
"She didn't do it," said Rowley. "Until those words come out of her mouth, I have all the faith in her."
"She is very strong, very independent," said Shelby's friend Holly Barton, after hearing of Shelby's arrest. "She would have done anything for Tyler. If she had to go without, that that's what it would have been. She wouldn't have thought twice about it."
In a statement issued just before 6 a.m., St. Louis County police said an arrest has been made in the case, but the person has not yet been formally processed.
A person was escorted by investigators to the scene where 13-month-old Tyler Dasher's body was found yesterday and then was transported to St. Louis County Police Headquarters in Clayton.
Police were spotted Wednesday morning leading the person around the crime scene. The person then got into a car with investigators and was driven back to the Dasher home. The person had on a grey hood and was escorted back into the home in Affton. After about 30 minutes, the person was escorted back to the vehicle and driven to Clayton.
Seven family members were interviewed late into the night Tuesday, but the police statement makes no mention of whether the person arrested is a member of Dasher's family.
On Tuesday, police responded to a call of a missing child around 11 a.m. in the 7700 block of Clevedon in Affton.
Dasher was last seen Monday evening before 10 p.m. when his mother put him to bed.
Around 3:30 p.m. citizens out walking found the body of Dasher in a wooded area near River Des Peres Road and Gravois, approximately one mile from the child's home.
The cause of death has not been determined. There is no known motive for the abduction or homicide at this time.

On Wednesday, NewsChannel 5 obtained court records from St. Louis County confirming that the parents of Tyler Dasher's father, Joseph Ellington, took measures to obtain legal guardianship over Joseph.
According to the documents, the parents had been concerned about Joseph's state of mind.
At a March 2011 court proceeding, a psychiatrist said Ellington suffered from paranoid delusions and diagnosed him as "disabled" and "incompetent." The psychiatrist said Joseph Ellington declined treatment.
Shelby Dasher filed for an order of protection against Tyler's father on October 13, 2010. She requested a dismissal of that order on November 22, 2010. The order was dismissed.
Friends and family will hold a vigil and moment of silence in Tyler's honor at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the River Des Peres Greenway at Olde English Road and River Des Peres in Affton.
NewsChannel 5 will provide more information as details emerge.
