St. Clair, IL (KSDK) - It's a Black Friday nightmare. Thieves stole nearly $5,000 dollars worth of goods from a car at St. Clair Square on Friday and the victims say nobody seemed to notice!

Leeann and Linda (they asked us not to disclose their last names, out of concern for their safety) went on an all-day shopping spree with their daughters, an annual holiday tradition. They arrived at St. Clair Square at 6 p.m. after 12 hours of shopping, and parked 5 spots away from the door.

When they came back four hours later, their car was empty.

Thieves had popped the lock with a screwdriver and taken everything inside.

"It actually made you sick to your stomach," Linda said. "I had to come and look and make sure it was my son's vehicle, because I couldn't believe everything had been taken."

"I had to flag down a security guard," Leeann said. "There were three in the parking lot and they said they saw nothing. I asked, if you saw someone unloading all these things, then what? They said they don't think twice because sometimes people have their relatives come and pick up some of their purchases."

The thieves have already returned a number of the goods at local stores. Police are working on collecting security footage from those stores. Anyone with information should call Fairview Heights Police.
