Clayton, MO (KSDK) - A St. Louis County judge has sentenced Christopher Colletta to two consecutive life sentences for the murder of his estranged wife, Mary Daniels.
Christopher Colletta was convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Mary Daniels, of Hillsboro, in August 2010. She was stabbed to death in the Mercy Hospital St. Louis parking lot after leaving work and walking to her car.
Prosecutors said Daniels had an order of protection prior to her death against Colletta. Daniels' friends said the couple was also in the process of getting a divorce when the murder happened.
Before the sentence, Colletta apologized for the crimes. The judge called the act unspeakable and horrific.
Colletta has asked for an appeal.
