St. Louis, Missouri (KSDK)--   The driver of the Greyhound bus who abandoned her bus and all of the passengers on board last month during a trip bound for the Gateway City, has been fired by the parent company, FirstGroup.

Company spokesman Tim Stokes confirmed the drivers termination.

News Channel 5 has learned the unidentified driver was terminated for not following company protocol.  No explanation was provided by the union representing the driver to explain the driver's behavior.

The incident occurred while passengers were en-route to St. Louis November 18th when the driver pulled to the side of Interstate 55 about two hours south of the city and announced she was leaving.  She later returned and then drove in the opposite direction to St. Louis and went to a service station off I-55 near Charleston where she left for good.

Earlier in the trip, the driver removed a 65-year-old male passenger while the bus was taking a break at a truck stop in Sikeston Missouri.  The driver indicated she did not like what the passenger was talking about.

The trip for the stranded passengers began in Memphis and eventually ended when a replacement driver was able to rescue them and deliver them safely to St. Louis more than 12 hours after their were suppose to arrive.
