St. Louis (KSDK) -- A piece of exercise equipment making waves along the beaches of San Diego is now making its way to St. Louis.
First of all, there's no seat so it's not like a bicycle. There are wheels like a bike, but the pedals are like an elliptical. The company calls it an elliptical bicycle and it's the first of it's kind.
The makers of the bike designed it to be a low-impact substitute for running. It's called the Elliptigo. Since there's no seat, you stand up and take long, elliptical strides. It is similar to a stationary elliptical in the gym. Injured runners and people with knee problems seem to take a liking to Elliptigo. It can also be used as a cross training device.
Whatever the reason people ride the Elliptigo, they are sure to get a lot of attention. I tried the Elliptigo out myself. And while I struggled at first, it was fun once I got the hang of it.
Vince Evans from Fitness Experts in Chesterfield said, "Every other person goes wow, what is that? Where did you get that? You get a ton of looks. Also, for the people that want a lot of attention, this is the bike for them."
The price of the Elliptigo starts at around $1800. For more information, visit http://www.elliptigo.com/ or http://www.gofitnessexperts.com/. You can call 636-530-7767 for details.
