St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A 36-year-old Florissant man pleaded guilty to defrauding clients of Edward Jones Trust Company out of nearly $190,000, U.S. Attorney Richard Callahan said Wednesday.
According to court documents, Duane Cook was employed as a trust specialist and an account review officer with Edward Jones, responsible for administering numerous Edward Jones Trust Company client trusts.
From May 2006 through June 2011, Cook submitted false invoices for three Edward Jones clients and issued checks totaling $188,848 made payable to Fever, a sham company set up by Cook. The money Cook obtained through his illegal activities was put to personal use.
Cook pleaded guilty to one felony count of mail fraud. He faces up to 20 years in or prison and/or fines up to $250,000 when he's sentenced on April 6.
