Maplewood, Mo (KSDK) -- The fire at a Maplewood dentist office rekindled Friday morning, after a four-alarm fire heavily damaged the building the night before.
NewsChannel 5 was reporting about the fire at the Maplewood Richmond Heights Family Dentistry in the 3000 block of Sutton Boulevard when it caught fire again and called 911. NewsChannel 5 photojournalist John Finley was at the scene could see flames coming from the basement of the building.
The fire appeared to have rekindled shortly after fire investigators had left the scene.
Firefighters from Brentwood, Richmond Heights, St. Louis, Rock Hill, Webster Groves and Maplewood returned to the sceneand put a hose into a basement window to help put out the fire.
The Maplewood fire chief said there was a fuel oil furnace in the basement that they believe may be linked to the rekindling. They sprayed foam into the basement because fo the flammable liquids. Greenish blue flames could be seen coming from the basement.
The building is two stories tall, with the dentist office on the first floor.
The Maplewood Fire chief said the initial fire started in the basement, and when firefighters entered the first floor collapsed. One firefighter was injured, but his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
There are no reports of anyone being injured in the rekindled fire.
