St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Social media continues to be the driving force on the internet. There's a lot of buzz about a new service that combines the best of Facebook and Twitter with sharing photos.

Pinterest is growing at a rapid rate and over the last few months. The site's popularity has exploded, from 1.2 million users in August to over 4 million just weeks ago. But like any new social site, everyone's curious about what it is and how it works.

Let's start with what Pinterest is. Its members, also known as "pinners," can share organized images online. Once they are shared on Pinterest, the images become known as "pins." Each pin can then be placed on boards labeled by certain topics, like a virtual corkboard of ideas.

Sounds pretty simple, but here's the catch. You have to be invited to join Pintrest. A current pinner can send you an invite or you can request an invite online at their site. However, you may have to wait a little.
to share it's while you're on the go. Well have no fear, you guessed it, there is an app for that. Simply snap, pin and post.
Sorry pinners, if you have an android theres no support for that just yet.

Something else to keep in mind is that you can pin videos as well.  Simply hit the video button at the top of the page.
I also want to pass along that it's frowned upon to spam your Boards with nothing but your small business. It's not outright banned and the site encourages self promotion, its just focused more on creativity and not making your boards stictly for business purpse.
