Jefferson County, Mo (KSDK) -- Eight school buses have been stolen in five months from St. Louis and Jefferson counties and the FBI has been notified.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Capt. Ron Arnhart said they have surveillance video of one of the buses being taken off the Windsor School District bus lot off 61/67 in Imperial.  The bus was taken Monday, but it wasn't noticed until Tuesday because of the holiday.

Capt. Arnhart said someone cut the lock on the gate, took the bus and then replaced the lock with another lock that they normally do not use.

A second school bus was stolen at 4500 Commerce in High Ridge in October.

The first school bus disappeared in May and the thefts have continued every month since September.

Investigators have not recovered the stolen buses.

It is standard policy for the FBI to be notified when a large vehicle has been taken or that a terrorist may use to gain access to a particular area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

NewsChannel 5 will have more information on this story through out the day.
