Two killed in overnight shooting in East St. Louis

East St. Louis, Il (KSDK) East St. Louis Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left two people dead.

Around 12:45 a.m. officers were called to the Crown Food Mart in the 8300 block of State Street after reports of shots fired.

Two men were found inside a Pontiac Grand Am, both shot multiple times. Police Chief Michael Floore says a third victim was also inside the car, but he was able to escape unharmed.

The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Willie Singleton, and his passenger 33-year-old Lavor Flakes.

Officers believe three armed men came from behind the building and started shooting at the victims when they were parked near a gas pump.

Chief Floore said all indications are the victims were targeted, but they have no motive at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Illinois State Police at (618) 346-3990.
