De Soto, MO (KSDK) - A Jefferson County woman could face child endangerment charges after allegedly leaving her six-month-old baby alone in a car Monday morning.
De Soto police were called to the Walmart parking lot around 9 am. Sgt. Michael McMunn says a concerned citizen saw the baby in the car and called officers. Police also say the car doors were unlocked.
The woman told officers she was only inside the store for a few minutes. She was arrested and booked at the De Soto police station. She was released about 45 minutes later with those child endangerment charges still pending.
The baby girl was placed in protective custody and will remain there until a family member comes forward to take care of her.
