San Diego (KFMB/CNN) - A California woman was convicted of second-degree murder in her Navy husband's death.

Jurors in San Diego handed down that verdict against Jennifer Trayers this afternoon.

In December of 2010, Trayers stabbed her husband to death while he slept, after learning he was having an affair.

Prosecutors had wanted a first-degree murder conviction, arguing the murder was premeditated.

But the defense pushed for involuntary manslaughter.

In the end, the jury found her guilty of second-degree murder, which carries a possible 16 years to life sentence.

Trayers will be sentenced next month.
