On Feb 7 the Missouri Presidential Preference Primary was held. Statewide it cost an estimated 7 million dollars. This was a waste of money for a "Vote that Doesn't Count". The Republican nominee will be chosen at the March 17 caucuses and the Democrats already have their primary candidate. What if this money could have been better spent where there is a need. Just think the funding source for the Missouri Veterans Homes is nearly depleted. Funding for the Missouri Veterans Capital Trust Fund is predicted to be depleted by April 2013 which would result in the closing of the Missouri Veterans homes and cemetaries. A continuous and adequate funding source is needed and support has been promised by the Governor and the Legislature. What if this money would have been spent to help the disabled veterans who use and need the nursing home care provided by the Missouri Veterans Homes? It would have temporarily helped the funding situation and helped those who need it the most. As the wife of a disabled Vietnam combat Veteran and I feel it would have been better used than a "Vote that doesn't count". I am Mitzi Swope and I am just sayin.
