Madison County, IL (KSDK) - Two Texas residents were arrested earlier this week in separate incidents following traffic stops in the Metro East, resulting in the seizure of over 61 pounds of marijuana and $7,800 cash.
On February 5, a trooper pulled over a motor home for improper lane usage on I-70 near Collinsville. The trooper suspected criminal activity and requested a K-9 unit come to the scene. The police dog detected an illegal substance, and state troopers found five black trash bags in the motor home, containing 61 pounds of medical grade marijuana.
The driver, 48-year-old John Milliorn of El Paso, Texas, was arrested for cannabis tracking.
Later that day, another trooper stopped a black Ford Expedition for speeding on I-70 near Fairmont City. The trooper smelled marijuana in the vehicle and a search was conducted. The search revealed 530 grams of marijuana and over $7,800 in currency.
The driver, 29-year-old Rafael Reyes of Elgin, Texas, was arrested delivery of marijuana. Reyes was also wanted in Texas on an assault warrant.
Both Milliorn and Reyes are in custody at the Madison County Jail. Milliorn's bond is set at $300,000 and Reyes' bond is $75,000.
