Some fourth graders in the Lindbergh School District had a special guest speaker Thursday morning.
A man who helped change this country in 1961 as a Freedom Rider.
The Freedom Riders were civil rights activists. Whites and blacks, many of them students, who rode interstate buses into the segregated southern united states. The goal: challenge local laws, so-called Jim Crow laws, that enforced segregation.
Matthew Walker was a Freedom Rider, and NewsChannel 5's Art Holliday had the opportunity to speak with him.
