Villanova, PA (Sports Network) - A season-opening game against Temple and a
Homecoming Day matchup with defending CAA Football champion Towson help
highlight the 2012 Villanova football schedule announced Thursday.
Villanova's season will kick off on Friday, Aug. 31 with the fourth annual
Mayor's Cup game against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The Wildcats' home opener is set for Sept. 8 against Fordham.
Coach Andy Talley's squad also will play four home games against CAA opponents
- Sept. 15 against Rhode Island, Oct. 6 against Richmond, Oct. 27 against
Towson and Nov. 10 against James Madison.
Villanova has a non-conference game against Penn on Sept. 22. Within the CAA,
the Wildcats will visit Maine (Sept. 29), Old Dominion (Oct. 13), Georgia
State (Oct. 20) and Delaware (Nov. 17).
The Wildcats, who won the 2009 FCS championship, finished 2-9 overall and 1-7
in the CAA last season.
