St. Louis (KSDK) - A St. Louis businessman has filed a lawsuit against the federal government, and it's all surrounding birth control.
On Wednesday, Frank O'Brien Jr., owner of the Christy Companies, filed his lawsuit in St. Louis federal court, stating that the government's healthcare plan requiring employers to provide for their employee's birth control is a violation of his religious beliefs.
According to the suit, O'Brien says he's uncomfortable as an employer, helping to fund contraception, sterilization, and abortion, referencing the "morning after pill."
The business owner says the healthcare mandate is also a violation of his first amendment rights.
O'Brien is represented by The American Center for Law and Justice, which is based in Washington, D.C.
