Alton, IL (KSDK) -- Some hotels within driving distance of St. Louis are offering to help fill up your gas tank.
The Beall Mansion in Alton, Illinois is one of many inns around the country giving out gas cards to guests. It's a promotion that experts are seeing more of this year compared to last.
In an effort to keep people driving, the inn is offering a $50 gas card to guests who stay two nights in a row. The minimum cost of each night would be $119 under the promotion. The owner says it's a popular deal they bring back from time to time when gas prices get too high. The Beall Mansion guests come from all over the country and anytime gas prices go up, it can affect business.
Jim Belote, the Beall Mansion owner, said, "It is a concern. People only have so much money to spend and when there's a finite amount of money, something can end up giving. So we want to make sure people have no reason not to stay at The Beall Mansion."
According to the online directory for bed and breakfasts, www.bnbfinder.com, more hotels will offer gas card promotions by the summer. There are inns within driving distance from St. Louis offering gas car specials.
