(KSDK)-St. Louis A Newschannel 5 crew doing a story on the Delmar Loop Saturday night was conducting an on-camera interview when shots rang out across the street behind them.
Reporter Alex Fees and videographer John Kelly took cover as people can be seen and heard scrambling to get out of the way. Kelly continued to record.
It happened shortly after 11 p.m. St. Louis Police were patrolling the intersection of Delmar and Skinker in great numbers because of earlier reports of shots being fired in the vicinity.
Police were seen standing in crosswalks carrying weapons. Other officers harnessed police dogs. A large, blue truck that read "Nuisance Abatement Vehicle" on the side could be seen in the parking lot of a gas station.
At the request of police on the scene, the Newschannel 5 crew showed police their audio and video of the actual shooting and the aftermath. Moments after the shots were fired, a young man in a blue sweatshirt can be seen running from the scene, southbound across the parking lot of Church's Fried Chicken. A man named Luke who witnessed the shooting said the young man on the Newschannel 5 video, seen running away, is not the gunman.
Police say two shooting victims arrived at a local hospital a short time later and reported they had been shot at Delmar and Skinker. The first victim, a man, 19 was shot in the left arm and the second vicitm, a boy, 17, was shot in the abdomen. Both are in stable condition.
