Chesterfield, MO (KSDK) - One person had to be taken to a hospital following their involvement in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Interstate 64 in west St. Louis County.
The accident occurred along westbound I-64 near the Chesterfield Parkway exit.
The Chesterfield Police Department initially reported one vehicle slammed into the back of another vehicle and flipped over as a result.
Witnesses at the scene contacted NewsChannel 5 with different accounts of the accident. We gave this information to police, who reviewed these reports and have since updated the account of the accident.
The vehicle that was struck, a truck, had in fact backed into a car, causing that second vehicle to overturn. The driver of the truck then fled the scene. The driver of that car suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the truck was stopped a short time later and is being questioned by police.
The accident scene was cleared and traffic flowing normally by 10:17 a.m.
