St. Louis (KSDK) - The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Thursday they will begin construction on widening part of Interstate 270 on Monday, April 16.
The project calls for widening the highway between Manchester Road and Interstate 44.
Various lanes on northbound I-270 in this section will close each weekday night in April and early May from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m.
Up to two lanes on the northbound I-270 exit ramp at Manchester on Sunday and Monday nights will also close for pavement repairs. One lane will always remain open on the ramp. The work on Sundays will take place from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. and on Mondays it will take place from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.
Because of restrictions on the roadway and rock bluffs, northbound and southbound lanes on I-270 will be narrowed to 11 feet. After the project is complete, this section of the highway will still have full width shoulders in most locations.
The project is expected to take two years to complete.
