New Haven, MO (KSDK) - The New Haven Police Department confirms it is investigating claims of an attempted abduction involving three girls.
This news comes after the Franklin County Sheriff's Department reported a man in a maroon truck tried to kidnap a 14-year-old boy from Gray Summit Monday night.
Assistant New Haven Police Chief Dan Terry said the girls came to the police station around 1 p.m. Tuesday after hearing news about the other incident involving the 14-year-old.
The girls, each of them 15-years-old, told police they were walking near the intersection of McNair and Locust streets around 8 p.m. According to the three teens, a truck drove by, but turned around and began following them. The truck sped past the girls again and turned around to block the street. The girls were frightened and ran to a home to call their families to pick them up.
The girls described the vehicle as an older model red Jeep pick-up with a red and white tailgate, with two CB antenna mounted in the bed.
Assistant Chief Terry said it's possible but not yet confirmed that the incidents are related.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the New Haven Police Department at 573-237-2211.
