Maryland Heights, MO (KSDK) - The driver of a minivan involved in Tuesday's fatal crash in Maryland Heights was arrested on suspicion of DWI, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Police responded to the Page Avenue Extension near the Maryland Heights Expressway Tuesday afternoon after receiving several reports of a serious crash.

State police said two vehicles were involved in the accident: a 2005 Chevy Minivan and a 2005 Toyota Corolla.

The accident happened as both vehicles were traveling westbound on the Page Avenue Extension, when the minivan struck the rear of the Toyota.  The minivan overturned several times, ejecting the driver.

Twenty-two-year-old Jarred Nevenner of Caseyville, Illinois was a passenger in the vehicle and died at the scene.

Authorities arrested the 22-year-old driver of the minivan, a St. Charles resident.  He is accused of driving while intoxicated and voluntary manslaughter.

Accident reconstruction crews from Maryland Heights Police and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are continuing their investigation.

At least two other people were seriously injured in addition to the fatality.
