If you watched "American Bandstand" on ABC, you were probably a fan of the local version, "St. Louis Hop."

The show debuted on KSD-TV in 1958 a year after Dick Clark went national with Bandstand.

Hosted by smooth Russ Carter, the Saturday afternoon dance show featured everyone from The Smothers Brothers to Bobby Darin.

St. Louis Hop went off the air in the early 70s.

By the way, winners of the dance contest went home with Bonne Belle Cosmetics, Steaks and six pack of Pepsi.
