Collinsville, IL (KSDK) - A neighbor calls it spooky, police in Collinsville are calling it suspicious.
Now the major case squad is involved after a body is discovered.
It happened at a house on St. Clair Court in Collinsville.
Police are guarding the house while investigators sort through what happened there.
Police aren't saying much, but neighbors say the man was found outside, in the backyard near a mobile home.
According to neighbors, the badly decomposed body could have been there for weeks.
Police have identified the man as 55-year-old Russell O. Miller, who was reported missing to the Collinsville Police Department April 15, 2012.
Neighbors say he had been a fixture in the neighborhood for years. He rode a bicycle everywhere, so they would often see him out and about.
They say Miller did not have a steady job, and would do odd jobs to get by, but in the last two or three weeks, they say they hadn't seen him around.
"One of his roommates hadn't been around here for about a week and he came down and the way I understand it he was going to cut grass and he went and walked around the property and he found him," said neighbor Pricilla O'Bryan.
Neighbors say Miller had two roommates. They saw police take them away, presumably to be questioned.
Police will not confirm if Miller even had roommates.
Anyone with information regarding Russell Miller should contact the Major Case Squad at 618-344-2131, extension 5924, or Commander David Roth at 618-781-1285.
