Search for Michael Murphy
Franklin County, MO (KSDK) - Law enforcement have called off the search for Michael C. Murphy, a man police believe shot and killed his girlfriend inside a home in the Lake St. Clair development off of Highway PP Wednesday night.

A pick-up truck was found a quarter-of-a-mile from the home. Murphy was not in the vehicle and police did not find a gun.
Sheriff Toelke said Murphy is a white male, 5'8" tall and weighs 220 pounds. He was wearing jeans or shorts and a t-shirt.
Witnesses told the Franklin County Sheriff's Department Murphy left the residence with a long gun prior to law enforcement's arrive at the scene. Murphy was last seen running toward Interstate 44 from the Lake St. Clair neighborhood.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Department asks that anyone who sees him to call 911.
The victim is a 40-year-old female from St. Clair and she and Murphy had two children together. Sheriff Toelke said they had received calls about arguments the couple had in the past.
