Cahokia, Ill (KSDK) - At least two people are in custody after a police chase in St Clair County.
Cahokia police said an officer spotted two vehicles driving 80 mph in a 45 mph zone around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. One of the vehicles was driving in the wrong lane on Route 157 and police said they appeared to be drag racing or chasing each other.
The officer pursued the vehicles and followed them onto Camp Jackson Road.
One of the vehicles stopped on Falling Springs Road, several miles from the original location.
Police said the people in the vehicle told the officer they had been shot at while on Lauralee Drive, in unincorporated St. Clair County.
The second vehicle hit stop strips near Horsehoe Lake Drive. The driver and passenger ran, but were quickly captured.
Police said they are not looking for anyone else.
KSDK
