University City, MO (KSDK) - A St. Louis police officer was involved in a shooting Thursday afternoon in University City.

According to Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, a foot pursuit began in the Seventh District and went into University City.

The chase ended in the 6800 block of Roberts when the suspect pointed an assault weapon at a police officer. That officer shot the suspect in the ankle.
