Summerville, SC (WCBD/CNN) - A South Carolina father surrendered today to face charges of child neglect in the death of his son.

Quintin McGrew was napping when his two-month-old baby was mauled by a dog he was keeping for a friend.

The child's mother, Chantel McGrew, is struggling deeply with her loss.

"Very, very upsetting. It's very hard to get up in the morning, when you wake up at two o'clock in the morning and you wonder where your baby's at because the baby would wake up at two o'clock in the morning for a feeding and he's not there. And all you can do is visit his gravesite, it's really, really hard," said Chantel McGrew.

Chantel McGrew was not home when the child was attacked and is not expected to face charges.
