Madison County, Ill (KSDK) -- The Madison County State's Attorney charged a man in connection to a deadly hit and run in downtown St. Louis.
State's Attorney Thomas D. Gibbons charged Eric F. Peterson, 29, with obstruction of justice.
He is accused of trying to transfer a car to another person for scrapping. Investigators said the vehicle has the same VIN number as the vehicle that hit and and killed Amber Wood on South Broadway on April 27.
Wood died at the scene. A second victim struck had lacerations on his high, leg and face. He was taken to an area hospital and was expected to be treated and released.
Peterson is not in custody.
Wood's mother, Georgie Busch, released the following statement:
"We are thankful to the St. Louis City Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff's Department, the Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the general public for aggressively pursuing the person that killed our Amber.
"While the developments of today are a step in the right direction, we are overwhelmed with emotion in asking the general public to assist in bringing the actual person responsible to justice. The police still need your help. Please contact Crime Stoppers at 866-371-TIPS."
