Jacksonville, FL (WJXT) -- A Jacksonville, Florida teen who jumped from a moving school bus last week has died.

Jessie Herr's mother said the family decided to donate his organs.

The 16-year-old has been on life support since he leaped from the rear emergency exit of the bus on Friday.

"Once he jumped, he landed on his feet but started going backwards and I seen him hit his head, then he started tumbling."

The family says they don't know why Herr jumped, but they were told his brain stem snapped in the fall.

Organ recovery specialists say the teen's donations could save up to eight lives.
