Catholic and Community Credit Union
Belleville, IL (KSDK) - Detectives with the Belleville Police Department are asking for the public's assistance in locating a man wanted for robbing a local credit union Thursday.
According to Detective Karl Kraft, a police spokesman, the incident took place around 11 a.m. at the Catholic and Community Credit Union in the 6100 block of West Main Street.
The suspect walked into the bank, approached a teller at the counter and handed the person a note demanding money, Kraft said. The suspect did not produce a weapon nor indicate he had one.
The teller gave money to the suspect, who then left the bank. No one was injured during the robbery.
Police described the suspect as an African-American man in his mid-20s, standing between 5'7" and 6'0" tall and weighing between 165 and 180 pounds. He has short braided hair. The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light blue button-down dress shirt and a tan fuzzy hat.
