Owensville, MO (KSDK) - There were full military honors as a 96-yearold Owensville man was buried Friday.

He was one of the last Pearl Harbor veterans in Missouri.

With family and friends holding his hands, Charles Henry Havelka died in his hometown of Owensville.

The Pearl Harbor veteran, his daughter said, went peacefully, and was ready to join his Navy comrades

"He was ready to go I think to be with all his buddies because they were all gone, they were all gone," said daughter, Charlyne Wells.

Havelka served his country during World War II where he worked on the USS Allen.

He later raised a family and was an active member of VFW Post 6133.

Charles Havelka is remembered as a feisty man who lived life to the fullest.
