St. Louis (KSDK) -- A former WGNU radio talk show host is expected to go on trial Monday for allegedly beating a woman to death and biting her nose and cheeks.

Leonardo Drisdel, 51, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 28-year-old Cassandra Kovack.

Police said Drisdel allegedly smoked crack cocaine at a home in the 3500 block of Miami in south St. Louis in June 2005, while celebrating his birthday.

Police were called after Drisdel arrived home in the middle of the night, covered in blood, according to his wife. The wife also told police her husband claimed a 'voice' in his head told him to kill Cassandra Kovack.

Police reports show Drisdel showered and left his home before being located and arrested at a South City bus stop.

Drisdel was a former radio talk show host for WGNU radio where he hosted a show called "The Human Factor".
