St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A 17-year-old has been released from custody Monday in connection with a weekend shooting in the Tiffany neighborhood, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
The incident started near Grand and Lafayette around 3:55 a.m. Sunday.
Police said a 28-year-old woman was a passenger in a car traveling west on Lafayette, driven by a 26-year-old man. The driver told investigators he saw two people rummaging through the trunk of a dark, two-door vehicle. When the couple approached in their car, one of the suspects stepped out into the street and pointed a handgun at them.
When the couple began to back up, the suspect opened fire on their car. The woman in the passenger seat was shot in the head. Police said she is hospitalized in critical and unstable condition.
Police initially apprehended a 17-year-old for the shooting, but the teen was later ruled out as a suspect through identification.
The suspects are a young man and woman, between the ages of 16 and 21, and nearly the same height, 5'8" to 5'10" tall.
