National Police Week observed by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office

Jefferson County, MO (KSDK) -- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and members of the public paid tribute to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

On Tuesday, May 15, police and others joined together at their headquarters in Hillsboro for a memorial ceremony that observed National Police Week and also honored fallen police officers.

In 1962, President John F Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week National Police Week.
